Just built my new system due to a burn out last week. I am running an E6600 on a 4CoreDual-VSTA, 2 Gig DDR 1 (400) and an AGP Geforce 7800 GS.
Its the first time I've ran 3dMark06 but I have the feeling my system wasn't operating at full whack and would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to improve on my score (without overclocking) just setting up the PC properly!
I scored 3900 on the 1280x800, no AA, Filtering: optimal test (the demo version). SOme of the tests were running at 0-1 FPS! Is this right?!
seems slightly lower than what i would have thought ( i would have expected more around the 4200-4400 range), but as long as the games run fine you shouldnt worry about them.
Your CPU is better than mine, but mine is also heavily overclocked, as is my graphics card. I think at stock I still had 5700-5800 though.
But as the others said, it is only a synthetic benchmark. As long as your rig plays the games you want at the speeds/settings you want, it doesn't really matter.
Edit: After looking at your card online, 3900 looks fine for your system.
Many thanks all for your reply's. Glad to see there's nothing up with my setup - bit dissapointed about my GPU performance but I suppose my Geforce 7800 GS OC is over 12 months old and AGP. Still not nice after spending over 200 pounds on it, but there you go.
So I updated my 84.25 forceware drivers (which I scored 3915 on 3dmark06) to the latest 94.24 drivers. I still get the glitch occasionally but I also ran 3dmark again and only got 3450!
