Ok, I bought XP64bit Pro when it first came out and loaded it on my older (new at the time)computer and after 6 months of issues, I loaded XP32bit. I now have a Q9650 CPU with 4GB of DDR2 800 RAM and 2-3870s in Crossfire. Here is my question: Is it worth removing Vista 32bit and loading XP64bit Pro? My thinking is that XP64bit has been around for awhile now and the issues I had earlier should be gone. I am also assuming that my speed would increase? Or, should I just wait for Windows 7 to come out? Any advise would be appreciated.
Regards,
My advice is to wait for Win 7. It'll be in stores in a couple months (Oct). If you like, you could use the Release Candidate in the meantime - It expires in May 2010

Windows 7 is/will be available in both 32 and 64 bit versions. I believe you can still download the Release Candidate from Microsoft - for free. There are also versions up in Torrent~land, but be advised these can be hacked/cracked and/or loaded up with spyware.

You are correct-- yes, you can use the Windows 7 RC through 2010. Beginning March 1st, each RC user will begin to experience bi-hourly shutdowns but the OS will not cease functionality until June 1st of 2010.
If you wish to try Windows 7, you may want to hurry up and download Windows 7 RC while you still can. Come August 15th the Win 7 download will no longer be available. The Win 7 RC can be downloaded directly from Microsoft here: http://tinyurl.com/cwl3fs If you enjoy your experience with the RC version of Win7, you can now pre-order your copy of Windows 7 for a discounted price! Jessica, thank you for the information. Will there be an improvement to my system if I install Win 7 64 over my current Vista 32?
It depends on what you mean by improvement. You'll be able to make full use of the 4GB of RAM you have installed... so that will be improvement number 1. That may lead to better performance in some of your software, but not necessarily all. Basically, the better question is why stick with 32-bit anything? You're not going to notice any significant performance impact and 64-bit Windows will easily run 32-bit software. Not to mention there's no cost difference.
