Hi all.

My home build system was built around a donated AMD Sempron processor. Everything else is new. I downloaded software to help me monitor temps from motherboard sensors, and it is giving me high readings for the CPU while the BIOs temp sensor for the CPU does not give a high reading. The software is called Hardware Sensor Monitor and is at http://www.hmonitor.net/

** With Windows XP Loaded, at rest.
Case Temp
30-32 C consistently
CPU Temp
Software: CPU1: 102 Celcius
BIOS: CPU 44 Celcius

I have tried a second software program and it also gives me a similar reading where the BIOS continues to give me a 40 C range reading. Is this number accurate, or is the motherboard somehow misconfigured for the sensor for the CPU? (See my hardware list below). I don't do any gaming on this pc, it used mostly to surf the web and I use a program called HomeSite by Allaire to program code.

I am new to PC building, so I can't figure this out, but maybe the following illustration from the temp monitoring software can give someone a clue.

CPU1 doesn't exsist on your system, disregard it.

Your CPU0 should show the actual CPU thermal.

Also, looking at your second screenshot, it lists 'Temp3' as -86 celcius, if that was true, something in your case would be much colder then water ice.

Natural conclusion, the readins are inaccurate.

EDIT:
If you REALLY care about the thermals on a non-gaming, non-overclocked system, try this one.
