When i replaced my old RAM and got a new graphics card,my old activation code on my computer does not work any more and i lost my old reboot CD,so i borrowed one from my friend.Now i need to activate and i cannot because the code is old and cannot get a new code because the Cd is not mine.

So what can i do????

Why do you need to activate windows again? Did you format the HD when upgrading the RAM and video card?

Windows only allows you to change a certain number of hardware components (I think it's 4) before it requires re-activation (not re-install), reactivation should just require web access or a phone call to MS; If you haven't followed the instructions given on screen, you might have to re-install, the CD and the product code MUST be from the same build to work.

i lost the original Cd and this is a new one from my friend,so what can i do?

i hard to format my HD before i installed the new hardware and now the code written on my comp does not work...

That sounds like the product key, not the activation code. That only works with the same version of windows (ex. xp pro doesn't work on xp home).
