ok ive got a wirless bridge connecting 2 buldings about 125ft apart and sharing internet.
currently im using lynksys wap11's. they work pretty well considering, i have them mounted in tupperware containers on the side of the buildings. but the cold, heat , random lock ups that effect my wap11's have been killin me. needs to be reset minimum once a week, mosly every day. below -9 like we had here the other day not a chance of working..
here is a diagram of my setup now ..
cable modem to router(net gear somthin not wirless)>>>> wap11====wap11<<<<<lynksys switch
so the new plan is keep the ap's inside and use external antennas..
so im gonna upgrade my aps
get short leads only need 2 ft or so for each ap to go through the wall.
and a decent out door antenna.
ive been lookin at hardware and the linksys wrt-45gl look like a solid bet considering i can load after market software onto it. are there any better choices for reliability?
and anyone have any site with good antennas/leads.
one other problem i seem to have with this setup is on the cleint side of the ap, if i plug the second computer in it seems to lag the client side of the network and only let one have incredibly slow internet access.. 2 computer trying to play poker and one lags to were you cant play. it is never really a problem i dont usualy have the 2nd computer on the cleint side connected, but i really need to get my other comp running as a file server so need to square it away...
should i just connect both cleint side computers dirctly to the new router, ditch the switch.....
