My toshiba (amd turion) laptop had vista and I replaced it with MS XP Prof. Now I am unable to access the internet. I also lost the ethernet controllers, mass storage,modem device, pci device, sm bus and video controller (vga compatible). When I bought my computer, it did not include the backup software. How can i restore the drivers?

You need to down-load the chip-set drivers from Toshiba's web site.
