Any Ideas?

Error msg is:

<Unknown Disk>
There is no disk in drive.

Then 15 secs later it blue screens into a 0x0000008E error

You can check the controller in the BIOS to make sure it's on IDE.

You want the ATA(IDE) mode.

Still getting " <Unknown Disk>
There is no disk in drive. "

Is there any way to install onto the HD using it external through USB...? Like from my old dell desktop then the HD into laptop and use CD to do a repair... or is that not really poss?

The interface is different. You could try an external enclosure. You would need to change the boot order to boot off usb devices.
