Pretty sure xp caused this. I was dual booting xp and windows 7. I decided to reinstall xp because of a driver conflict. the install went fine and all but now there is no option when i start the computer to select which os to boot into. so right now i have about 45gb's on my 160gb hdd that arent being used. i would like to keep my other install and not get rid of it. and also, i would prefer not to install it again because thats just a pain in the @ss. Any help is appreciated.
It is possible that through your reinstall of Windows XP the boot.ini file was over written to erase the Windows 7 boot option. You could a) take a look at the boot.ini file if you feel comfortable enough or b) attempt a repair with the Windows 7 RC disc.

Ive got a similar issue, how do I edit the boot.ini? The boot loader is saying Ive got one partition, but its saying that ive got two OS, and the second OS, is on partition 3?
I aint skeeeered. I think I got it figured out. Ive deleted the second listing for the OS, in the boot.ini. And it booted up normally, And theres no more reference to another OS.
Ive checked the total volume on the drive, and it seems to be where it should.
Thanks for the help!
