I'd like to know how good do PNY cards turn out to be? I'm usually leaned towards buying evga, bfg, and xfx but being as tight on a budget as I am and wanting an 8800gts so bad (6800 isn't cutting it anymore) I'm willing to venture on another brand (PNY) because they are selling for about $25 cheaper than evga.

I guess you could summarize it, is buying a PNY card and saving $25 worth it over getting any of my usual "good" brands? I really don't want to have any headaches mailing it back or buying a card that is made with inferior parts (i.e. memory)

I'd pay $25 more for the eVGA or BFG, just to play it safe.

Do they offer a lifetime warranty? If they do then the OP should be fine with the PNY...

I own a PNY card, I will not recommend buying from PNY though. It's not that there is anything wrong with the card, it's just that I can't squeeze much out of it. I guess you'll be fine if you don't touch oc.

PNY almost always follows nVidia's reference design. So, generally, they are fairly reliable cards. However, their "lifetime warranty" is not really a lifetime warranty - it is good for as long as they market the card. Several years ago, I had a GeForce 4200 of theirs that croaked about a year and a half after I bought it. When I asked them for a replacement, they refused, saying the card was end-of life and was no longer being marketed. It was me, I would spend the addtional $25 and go with eVga or BFG, who honor liftetime warranties beyond current production cycles.

oh that's sweet... I guess i'll get whatever is cheaper unless the evga one is just too close in price to make a difference. I'm thinking about getting a *tentative* HD 3900XTX or 9900GTX when they come out anyway

Yea, just a different package and trial software.

Brands like XFX and BFG are better known because of their overclocked cards, and long warranties.
