Hey guys...
I got into f.e.a.r a multiplayer game... and got addicted to it... now the thing is my processor is 2.8 ghz so i lag a lot.. :( and cant perform.... and my pc is a crappy DELL E510....
I want to get a AMD processor along with a motherboard but on the other hand i dont want to waste money on buying new ram hard drives and other hardware....
So can you all suggest me which motherboard and processor to buy.... a combo would be more helpfull since it will save my money....
I'm looking for a decent AMD dual core 4400 - 4600 either would do...

And here are my current pc specs...
Ultra X finity 550 Watt psu
1.5 gig 533 MHZ ram
One ATI Raedon X1950 graphic card pci ( not AGP)
one dvd rom....
80 GB serial ATA drive
And a dell E510 case....
The detailed specs of my motherboard are right here if you need more information http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5150/en/sm/specs1.htm#wp1052310

I dont have much knowledge about computers....so have been kicked around for a while.... wasting money on useless hardware......

Can you all suggest me a mobo and a processor ( a combo would be preferred) which would replace my mobo and processor... and i'd be able to keep my other stuff like dvd rom hard drive and ram.....( will it fit my Dell E510 case? )
and yes why im doing this is to play f.e.a.r and would want a processor and mobo which will not lag me and perform like the best in its range... i was looking at Tigerdirect and came across.. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3127353&CatId=2019
would this work.. the price seemss pretty decent too..( oh sorry guys this doesnt support 533 MHZ memory i think)

Thankyou. :D

I personally think you would be better off getting a PCI-e video card.. PCI is just junk, bottlenecking your whole system with that.

suppose if I put more thought into it I would've realized you meant PCI-e. That and it doesn't even come in PCI..

anywho, I looked at that combo you looked at and its not for you, that mobo is older and doesn't support the RAM you have.

any of these mobo/CPU combo's should do you:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Recs=10&Nav=|c:2417|&Sort=4

I took the liberty to look through the list and chose this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2932492&CatId=2417

or for $20 less you can lose the SLI and 1 IDE connector(means you can only connect 2 IDE devices... 1 CD/DVD and Hard drive.. you can still have 4 SATA drives though:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3114319&CatId=2417

for $160-190 you can go cheaper w/ the same CPU, you lose 2 RAM slots though leaving only 2:

What kind of messed up motherboard is in that Dell you have? I looked at the picture of it.. the CPU is below the RAM which is horizontal... horrible positioning, looks like the CPU cooler would always be in the way of cabling and the HD/DVD drive......
