While not specific to CPU's, it does have some bearing on how reviews get 'placed'. I thought that with the recent spate of barcy vs. penryn speculations, this was a good forum to place this link.

I found it a good read, and am not looking for flames....

But maybe someone from THG could read this and explain their policy? Just a thought...

Croc.

Edit... Changed the title.

I was really put off by the Radeon 2900 review on toms hardware, a miniscule notice for a card everyone has been waiting for, for like six months.

And two days after, one of their "bang for the buck" reviews with ONLY Nvidia cards... I was like, wtf?

Since the 2900 is about the same price and faster...ish than the 8800gts I figured it would be more bang for the buck..

:S I've been looking more to other sites for reviews since then.

Great investigative reporting. Another reason Anand rules and THG sucks.

It's also good to see that the biggest and oldest sites appear to have strong ethics. I guess the key is to look for a site that has a seperate sales team.

Maybe b/c the 2900 is around ~$410-$450 and the 8800GTS 320MB is around ~$270-$300. There's a certain prices difference and very comparable numbers.

The article you were referring to was probably written before the 2900 came out and was poor timing for THG to release

Bingo. Why would you want to pay more for less...?

You could say i'm biased towards Intel and Nvidia. Is it wrong to prefer better value for money?

The cheapest 2900XT I could find, here in Sweden, on Komplett.se is
3395 SEK, and the cheapest 8800GTS is 3749 SEK..

Assuming 640mb ram, wich is really needed if you want to use high resolution and high res textures...

256mb isn't enough, and 320 is.. meh.
Feels like one would regret it sooner or later.

Yeah we all know THG favors Intel and Nvidia. Too bad but the world is all about cash these days.
I've always that that they favour AMD over Intel... and to be fair right now it's hard to tell who favours which CPU company over the other as Intel's performance lead is so undeniably dominant.
