For the past couple of days my desktop running Windows XP is not responding to Standby from Turn Off Computer menu. It is like totally ignoring it. Previously it used to go into Standby in 10 to 20 sec, but now it is not responding at all.

The only thing new that happened recently is that I switched to Comcast cable from AT&T DSL and the Comcast guy installed a bunch of software. But most of them are off line (not running in the background or something) except the Desktop Doctor. I tried exiting Desktop Doctor and then going into Standby but it just won't respond.

Any ideas anyone???
