I have the system security malware and cannot try any suggested fixes as the pc will not run any sw. i have downloaded Smitfraudfix and combo fix. The pc boots up as normal and shows the desk top albeit with the system security wall paper warning but from there on the pc is now useless. Is there a way of running the smitfraud or combo. Also Regedit is not available.

Ouch. Rough spot.

What AV program are you currently using?

Try

If all else fails, back up your files that you can't live without (documents, etc) do a clean install and BEFORE you load your files back on, scan them with a GOOD AV program.

I would suggest also writing down any licenses, keys, passwords so you can reinstall MS.
