Wants to Activate Software

on a Presario SR5410F my DVD/CD drive became errored out on device manager. I took the cables off and reinstalled them to make sure they were seated properly. Now, not only doesn't the DVD/CD drive get recognized but each time I turn the computer on it wants me to Activate Vista Software with my key code, which I don't have. The system came with Vista already installed.

Any ideas?

Phone Microsoft with the Hardware ID and they will give you a response code to validate you install!

There will be a sticker somewhere on your case with your product key. If that sticker has been removed, then you might want to see if you can somehow locate it.
