i want to keep this computer setup as long as possible, so i need help buying a new card. i have,

939 x2 4800
7800gt sli
2gb ddr 400, i get 7000 in 3dmark06 and 80 fps on fear on 1280x1024 max settings 4aa and 8af.

now, i was wondering would i get better performance with a 8800gtx? i have the power and space to run it! or should i wait for the 9800gtx even though it will be pci express 2.0? and i could lose half the performance, because i have a 939 board?

Wait for the AMD HD 3950XTX.

I hear that it will use all silent heat sinks and require as much power as teh x1300 series.

It's supposed to outperform twin 9800's in sli!

Here is the evidence.

Having said that, the 9800GTX (G90) is nowhere near release.

With a 8800GTX you will be CPU bound... at the res there is 0 reason for a GTX. Get a GTS if you must and roll on. Having SLI at the res is just silly.

80FPS? Why upgrade at all... I don't upgrade until I can't reach 30FPS. :?

well, i was thinking in terms of september with quake wars,bioshock,hellgate london, timeshift,unreal 3 and crysis coming up! with a 24 inch monitor if possible.

Worth the wait for sure.

The 9800GTX is no where close to being released, so we can't tell if you should get that.

If your games are playing fine, don't upgrade.

You know much better than me that all Ultra series is a waste of money! Get the GeRadeon HD X7967789XTX GTX and Overclock it to Ultra! :lol: :lol:

It's really quite simple. The user's current system is his condom, and his post suggests that his ego aka epenis is larger. Therefore he requires a bigger condom.

Btw, forget the G90 chip, look at the G92 chip instead - far better ;)
