I have been attempting to defrag my computer, currently running xp proffesional. Each time I get the message

"disk defragmenter could not start"

I have downloaded Defraggler and each time it tries to defrag it quits.

I have restarted the computer in safemode and again attempted but the above scenario does not change. I have also tried using defrag in command prompt but it says it can not open.

I have about 33% space on the hardrive left so it is unlikely to be the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this and perhaps able to help me out? It would be much appreciated!
