Office 2010 64-bit Issues

I have tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office 2010. Since I'm on Win 7 x64 I would prefer to use the 64-bit version of Office. That being said I can't get Outlook 2010 and the new 64-bit Outlook Connector to work properly, nor can I get Outlook to connect to my hotmail accounts using POP and SMTP. The 32-bit version seems to work well. Does anyone have ideas what the issue is? I'm running Avast Free 5 for my antivirus and all I can think of is that it is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Outlook and is messing it up. Has anyone else had problems with this combo, or are using other antivirus that is known to work with Outlook x64?

It could be worth a shot to uninstall Avast to see if it works. I'm running the 32-bit version of Office 2010 on my laptop, which has W7 Pro 64-bit and Avast on it because the 64 bit Office was giving me too many troubles. Hence, why it could be plausible that Avast has something to do with it.

The x64 applications aren't fully stable yet. If the 32 bits version works perfect go with it, u won't see any difference between both 32 and 64 bits.

wait until SP1 or something before trying Office 64? I was thinking that Office 2010 64-bit would run faster or more efficiently than 32-bit on Win 7 x64. Both are optimized for multi-threading correct?

IMO until a full development of the x64 is better go with 32 bits applications.
