I am building my first system in the morning. I have all the parts but no OS. I recently changed my mind about installing Window 7 RC. I need a stable OS for this system. So my question is this: I have a friend that will loan me his copy of Window XP for installation, is there any reason I couldn't install his copy to my system? Or should I buy software to copy an image from my old Dell Dimensions 2350 HDD and install that to my new hard drive? And if so which software should I use?

I was thinking Acronis.

1 last question The case has 4 fans. The Mobo supports 3 chasis fans. Any suggestions?

My Build:

CPU=i7 920
Mobo= asus p6t deluxe
HDD=WD Caviar Black 1TB
PSU= Antec TP 750 blue
Vid Card=Saphire 4870 1GB
Case =Antec 900
Ram= OCZ Gold 3x2GB 1600
HSF=Xigmatek Dark Knight
DVD=Lite On 22X

You go out and BUY a new copy of Windows.
Your Dell copy will only run on a Dell PC.
Borrowing a friends copy is called "theft" and *may* result in his product code being blocked (depending on region).

Yeah, I am reconcidering my decision to not use windows 7. I don't want to buy a copy of windows xp today and next year buy a copy of windows 7.

I am new at this so I could use some help. Should I download windows 7 onto a usb flash card then install it to the system?

Let me just ask you how would I download windows 7 unto my new system?

And Thanks for your help.
