Is it better to have FSB:Memory at 1:1 with a lower mult

New to overclocking and have a pretty basic question. After reading a number of threads and articles, it seems like it is optimum for the FSB:Memory to be at a 1:1 ratio.

I have a E6600 with an MSI P6N Platinum mb and DDR2 800MHz memory. If I have done the math correctly, at the stock processor speed of 2.4GHz and the 9 mulitiplier, then the ratio is 2:3.

I would like to begin conservatvely and overclock to 2.8GHz, which at the 9 multiplier (and 311 bus speed) would be a 7:9 ratio.

Is it better to leave the multiplier at 9 or lower this to 7 and raise the bus speed to 400MHz to achieve the 1:1 ratio??

Thanks for any help!

You don't necessarily need to go to FSB 400 to sync with mem. Try 333 FSB and lower mem to 667 and tighten timings if 400 is out of reach on your mobo. C2D's respond well to faster mem timings with synced frequency's. 9*333 FSB equals a respectable 2.97 Ghz and you should be able to reach that on most mobo's. There are a lot of people with similar setups to yours that have posted their oc's in the forum, so finding more info shouldn't be very hard.
But in short (little late though :p ) yes it is better to run at a 1:1 ratio.
