What can I do to set the background back to the normal way it was. Hubby shut computer down at power cord and not computer so now intenet browser is really bright what do I do?

That shouldn't have changed anything, though not the best way to shut down a PC. Have you tried adjusting the brightness on the monitor? Maybe he was trying to shut off the monitor and hit the brightness setting?
