In windows xp I have tried to repair windows live messenger. Corrupted files rendered it useless. I tried to reinstall-would not without uninstalling present version.....tried to update but said the version I had was newer than the one I was trying to install (not!)-try uninstalling and reinstall. Will not uninstall on this computer (Dell Dimension E520). I have tried add and remove programs, brute force, and creating a new administrator account. Don't know where to go next. Mind's dead and I feel stupid. Can you help?

Try Revo uninstaller (freeware) to completely remove all traces of the old messenger program.

Thanks.....problem solved. I already had "Revco" in my arsenal but had forgotten about it. This site is cool beans for people with problems!
