A lot of things opening as .html

My Photoshop, and AfterFX setups are not working, along with some other stuff.
Reason being is when I double click, it wants me to either run or save the file as an html. My default internet browser is Firefox.

The file associations appear corrupted... does this happen with all .exe files?

You might want to try an association fix by Doug Knox.

Because these are registry edits it is always recommended that you backup the registry, although they do just restore the default settings.

Yeah, it happens with all .exe setup files.

Try running the XP association fix on the page linked above.

At the top of the page there's a special instruction for getting the exe fix to work if it doesn't work first time.

It didn't seem to work.
I've also just reformatted my hard drive with a new windows Xp Pro, and it's still doing the same.
