Shutdown, Reboot and Logoff FAIL

My computer no longer can shutdown without resorting to holding the power button in. Also, the restart and logoff buttons in the start menu do not work. I'm dual booting Windows 7 which shuts down perfectly so it must be a OS problem and not a hardware issue. Even if Windows asks to reboot (updates or that type of stuff) it still won't work. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling any new software or updates you have done. I had Zone Alarm cause my computer to not shutdown after an update. Uninstalled then reinstalled and it worked fine.

I found that you can FORCE a logoff or reboot or shutdown by holding the CTRL key while clicking on Logogg/Reboot/Shutdown. It's a work-around, but it's a nuisance. I've been looking for the solution for about a week now. Ray-N4GYN
