does anyone know a solution to this as no sound will come out of my speakers once i have entered a new ati graphics card my speakers are clearly working but it is just the sound that is a problem it was fine until i restarted my computer, does anyone know how i can fix this?

i'd suggest removing the video card and putting the old one back in; test and see if the sound works.

if it does, uninstall the drivers for your video card (and possibly your sound card drivers if this doesn't work initially). Then reinstall the video card and install the new drivers and install the new sound card drivers as well.

My guess, without knowing if the sound card is onboard or not, makes me think that there is an IRQ overlap.

Go into your sound properties and change the playback device to your normal sound card or internal.
Newer ATI cards have audio on them for the HDMI port and sometimes they will override the default setting.
