Hi!
I built a MSI K9N4 Ultra-F motherboard with an Atlon X2 3800+ (AM2 socket), applied the latest Bios v1.7 and my Bios is reporting crazy temperatures:

CPU 4*
System temperature 84*

The temperature problems were supposed to be solved in v1.7.
I removed the heatsink, reapplied arctic silver 5 and it is still doing the same thing. The computer runs fine.
I am using the stock AMD heatsink.
I am not overclocking.
Is there anybody else experiencing the same problems?
Does anybody have suggestions on what I can do?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

is PCAlert showing the correct temps and voltages?

PC Alert is showing abnormal temperatures like 80* and asks to shut down the computer. I did not check the voltages in PC Alert.
The voltages are fine in the Bios.
The heastsink does not feel warm. The thermal grease is smashed, when I remove the heatsink.
Sppedfan reports the Core at 30*.
Thanks for your reply.

Tonight I am going to try to go back to Bios version 1.30.
That Bios might work better than 1.70.

Yep, going back to Bios version 1.30 solved my problems. My temperatures are back to normal. IMHO Bios version 1.30 is more stable than Bios version 1.70.

Use something like RMClock to read your real CPU temps; even if very accurate, motherboard sensors are still 1-2 millimeters away from the core, which can often make a difference of as much as 20°C less compared to the on-die sensors that RMClock (and some other software) read. Furthermore, these readings are unaffected by BIOS updates because read directly from the CPU, however, other CPU related functionalities like CPU fan throttling are controlled by the motherboard sensors; that's why on my mobo I had to set Qfan to go full revs @ 38°C, for this to work above a REAL CPU temp of about 50°C.

Thanks for your input, m25.
I also hope that Jack comes back. He was a great guy.
