Hey there,
I've been working on my brothers laptop the past week trying to remove all of the little viruses and such that he had picked up. Believe that I had removed all of them (Malware Bytes, Trendmicro and MS's onecare doesn't pick up anything anymore) I had hoped I would be done. However, the last scan using MSs onecare live scan killed the network drivers; which may very well of been infected.
In the device manager; under network adapters, it lists:
1394 Net Adapter
Inter(R) PRE/100 VE Network connection
Inter(R) PRE/100 VE Network connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Inter(R) PRE/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection
Inter(R) PRE/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (IP)
WAN Miniport (IP) - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (L2TP)
WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
WAN Miniport (PPTP)
All of the above have the yellow exclamation marks and list code 39 as the reason the driver is failing. Microsoft says to uninstall and reinstall the driver but that hasn't worked so far. I have tried to reinstall the drivers from DLing them from the manufacturers website and by rolling back the drivers with HP's driver restore function and nothing seems to be able to fix the corrupted drivers.
If there's any advice you guys can send my way I'd appreciate it.
