How to install sata hard drive as a slave where the master is also a sata

i want to make my spare sata hard drive as a slave my master hardrive is also sata . how to do it . my OS is win7

Hi there,

Sata doesn't exactly use the master/slave terminology like the older technology that had more than 1 drive on the same cable.

What you'll want to do is go into the Bios and set your boot order. So as long as you set your "master" to boot first you should be fine.

Plug it in the SATA 2 port on the motherboard, as above, there is no "master/slave" settings in SATA.

i don't know exactly what you are asking, but MrYoink is correct, with SATA - master/slave is no longer relevant as it only indicates where they were placed on the IDE ribbon - select boot order from BIOS
now if you are looking to use the spare as a 'backup', just set it up as a backup drive in windows, just type in backup in the search start menu and the proper program should pop up for that, i believe it is the recovery center.
