My PC crashed and I removed the HD and put it on my wife's PC (external drive) but I can't OPEN it with Windows Explorer. Anyone have a solution? I need some DATA files off urgently.

Everything on that drive shows as 'access denied'? So I'm assuming it shows up under my computer.

Check your task manager's process tab to see if there are rogue processes running. You should also try running a chkdsk on the drive.

Boot into Safe Mode if you're using Windows XP Home.
