That's great but I can do around 10500, with my 8800GTS, and e6400.

I see people like to buy high-end stuff to play 3DMark.

I haven't run 3DMark since I had my 7800GTs, and I don't plan on it anytime soon.

how true.
So far no one has won that game 8O

Reply to kwalker

Yeah, but if you use a FX 5200, you get a secret level!

Reply to theworminator

Well my 2nd video card just came in and it boosted my score by like over 2000 so I was kind of happy and wanted to show it off :D.

It's because the controls are terrible.

Reply to kaotao

Actually there is a small game on 3dmark06. They even have a leader board at ORB.

In defense of the OP testing changes with a consistent benchmark is the one good use for 3dmark.

Reply to No1sFanboy

I believe a C2D with a single 8800GTX gets around 10k...

I think AMD really needs to release a new and better driver soon ;)

Probably better than that. I never went above around 10.8k with a 2.8GHz K8 and X1900XT.

Reply to akahuddy

I think you're confused with 2005, i dont see how you could possibly get over 10K in 06 with an R580. unless its two of them in CF

Yeah, I dont think is possible to get 10.8k with a X1900XT, not even LN2 cooled in 3dmark 06.

I think he means 3Dmark 05.

I get 52xx with my E6600 @ 3.0Ghz, 7900GS, Raptor, 2Gb of RAM in 3Dmark 06.

Yeah, so true.
Maybe there IS some secrets in 3DMark like after running it 100 times, the tests change to some high-quality chicks!

Reply to Farhang

You can get high-quality chicks without wasting your time with 3DMark.

I also concur. Just because you (aimed at the "*whine* but it's a synthetic benchmark" spouting persons) don't understand the benchmark doesn't mean it's worthless.

Thanks for posting your results but uh... I can't read them other than the number at the top. More details on system config and results with single card plz?

tell you what you head over to xtremesystems and tell them its a waist of time.

some people actually enjoy trying to get the most out of the hardware. and whilst i dont generally condone the 'look at me ive got X pts in 3d mark im better than you' attitude some people have it is often a good way to compare similar systems or new driver releases

so instead of ripping on the guy just ignore it if you dont have anything constructive to say.

to the OP what are you trying to acheive by telling us your score yes cards can get that and yes some people own them clarify why you posted this was it to check against other peoples score because you can do that at ORB, or was it to say look at my pc because frankly there are other things to be proud about.

He romstar, did you drop the oc on your cpu because you should (i think) be getting much higher scores with 2 of those 2900's. Good to see you did get them working now though.
Just for comparison, my e6700(@3.333) 2Gb G.skill (@333 4-4-4-12-1T)and stock GTX gets 11538 with the CPU scoring 2980
From what i've read the 2900's kicked pretty much ass in 3dmark06 so i was expecting more.
Hows the heat on two of those puppies. Is it as bad as they say? 8O

Pretty good score, but could probablly be better. Don't let the majority of people on this site get you down. They are mostly immature nVidia moron-fanboys anyways, there are much better forums on the web, skip this one.

Reply to erocker

The heat isnt as bad as people say... and the fan isnt nowhere near as loud as I thought it would be. When I was doing the Over Drive thing it reached like 800 mghz on the core and like 1700 on the memory and was 80 C but I stopped it then so the heat isnt that bad really(I think it can handle up to like 140 or something).

After reading this thread, I was curious. I scored 13789 with 3DMark06
QX6700 > 8800GTX > 2GB A-Data Extreme PC1066.
Seems to be comparable with what others are posting, but then I'm no expert. Nice to know my components are up to scratch.

Heh my single 8800GTX scores 12k at default settings.

When is the x2950XTX coming???

Reply to darkstar782

As always, after NVIDIA releases their next star product, the 8900GTX

Anyways, I ask myself, why should graphic cards makers make faster cards when they are been bottlenecked by the CPUs?

I mean, not everybody has money for a 8800GTX and a X6800 or QX6700.
Most people get E6600, E6420s and then OC to usually 3.0Ghz-3.2Ghz but even that is a bottleneck.

With a 8900GTX, wouldnt they be increasing the bottleneck?

Reply to slim142

If dx10 is what it's supposed to be, the GPU will be handling much more of the workload. With the state of current socalled DX10 titles/demo's/patches they will need all the graphic hardware power they can get their hands on to run 60 fps :D

Reply to morerevs

Exactly, but whats a setup of 2 8800GTXs with an E4300 w/ no OC?

I would say even if you get it to 3.0Ghz, there might still some kind of bottelneck in there.

And now, you said DX10 needs all the power from videocard, thats true, but if the CPU is far from powerfull, whats gonna be the result?...

Reply to slim142

The CPU isn't a bottleneck if you run at decent resolutions, 1920x1200 or above, or high settings, 8xFSAA in 1600x1200.

Reply to darkstar782

them results are way off, i'm getting about 18k with mine, check your config, your drivers, make sure you have 3dmark on default settings and everything...

Reply to rammedstein

Damn bloody nice rig rammedstein!

Reply to Farhang

it is default because I didnt pay 20 bucks to buy it so w/e the default settings are is what I am using and I just did it again and got a little bit lower score.... maybe its because im using vista and on a 30 inch 2560x1600 resolution monitor? man my scores are sad T_T.

My bad actually... I've been quite out of it for about a week.

Reply to akahuddy

so when you say 2560x1600 i assume that that is your monitors res but 3dmark is still set to 1280x1024 or 1024x768? because if 3dmark was on that res it would really tax it. Update to the latest drivers, if you haven't, they gain you about 5% in 3dmark. hmm... I still find it odd you're getting suck low results... anyway.. yeah, i financed this computer because someone broke in and stole my last one :D - oh, ps, in vista i noticed my 3dmark scores actually went UP by about 5% so i don't think that is your problem... Lol, yeah, the heat isn't too bad, either is the noise, personally i didn't notice any difference in heat or noise between 2x and 1x.. still, I'm thinking about modding a 3x120mm rad to the top of my case, getting a 2nd pump and water cooling them so i can OC them a bit...
