i am having trouble finding out what is going on, why does my mouse not work after i just updated to sp2. i have a kvm switch and use a ps/2 to usb adapter to connect it to the pc. i have gotten it working in the past but can not repeat the process. it seems like when ever the computer is turned off the mouse will not work. restarting is fine and if i connect the adapter directly to a mouse/keyboard it works. initially i got it to work by unplugging the adapter, turn off the computer, plug in the adapter and then turn on the computer. windows boots up and says it needs to restart for new hardware. i can't seem to get that to work again.

another time i turn on the computer with the adapter plugged in, mouse doesn't work, plug in a usb mouse and go the device manager, human interface, uninstall the first thing (HID device), uninstall the second thing (usb device), leaving to things installed. at that point the usb mouse stops working and the mouse connected to the adapter works. i can't seem to repeat this process. i am looking in to getting an adapter that others seem to have success with but i am frustrated because i get it to work and can not repeat the process. any help would be great. here are the components i am using

win vista ult 64
BYTECC BT-2000 USB to PS2 Adapter
IOGEAR GCS614A 4-Port PS/2 KVM switch
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G
