Help, My head is too full of reading all the specs, etc. Looking for a recommendation for a graphics card for multimedia use (watching movies, photo editing, some video, internet surfing, and home office including some AutoCad, very little gamming).
Putting together a new system with ASUS P5K Deluxe, 2 GB DDR2-1066, 22" LCD @ 1680 x 1050. Considering Vista Home Premium (don't shoot me).
Most all the graphics card reviews I find are all based on gamming results. Will results for multimedia be similar? Thinking about an 8800 GTS 320MB card. Is this OverKill?
then again why go for 8xxx if one does not use them fully? that's just my opinion, as I really think one could get some alot cheaper gpu, and still be able to play that 'very little gaming' with somewhat ok graphics... maybe not the newest games or those that are still in the future. but why not save maybe ~200$ going for a real cheap somewhat good gpu and then use that 200$ + 50-500$extra when that must have game appears...
I think of myself as a gamer, went for 8800gts 640mb, it allows me to play future games (should atleast) maybe not on full graphics but still, also going for overkill is kinda satisfying. But if I wouldn't have wanted to play HL2 at great framerates and graphics I would have went for a shitty card and waited untill a good game would come out. (the real reason for my new comp was faster file opening, and processing and Supreme Commander witch needs a somewhat fast C2D (imo, so I went for an e6600) o yeah and then the promise of getting spore 2007, delayed as far as I know of...)
these ideas are coming from no expert in this area, just a few things I myself though up and though I could share isntead of just lurking around here. also that is why I do not put any examples of could be cards, but you could always check out the 'best graphic cards for the buck' or w/e that artcle on TH was called...
