Please Help

Im having troubles with using windows update. Its only a white screen and the hour glass just spins. I went into my management counsol and noticed the windows update service has been stopped and noticed i cannot restart. Also the task bar to restart or to stop the service has been grayed out.

trying hitting 'windows + R'
then type 'msconfig' (w/o quotes)
go to services tab and scroll to bottom and see if Windows Update is checked

Yes it is checked and it says Running on the Status Tab.

Sorry! Still not working and also I noticed the System Restore also not working.

try inserting the Windows Vista disk and clicking repair when it runs.
i think you have to boot to the disk. But i could be wrong on that part
