This could also be atributed to new software/updates installed that uses the CD drive. You can try the upper/lower filter fix but I dont think thats your issue. ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314060#fixit4me ) You can also try to do a system restore to an earlier time to see if it fixes the problem. Post back with some more info.
