When I put an audio CD or DVD into my hp pavilion laptop, i keep
getting a message that says "no disc in Drive." What
could be the problem? Using vista and has worked for a year but recent increasing problems with screen blanking, freezing

Is this only for audio CDs? have you tried any type of software on a disc?

This could also be atributed to new software/updates installed that uses the CD drive.

You can try the upper/lower filter fix but I dont think thats your issue. ( http://support.microsoft.com/defau [...] 0#fixit4me )

You can also try to do a system restore to an earlier time to see if it fixes the problem. Post back with some more info.

try reinstalling the drivers for the optical drive
go to the manufacturers web site to get the latest drivers
