Standby problem

I have XP recently i have this problem, the pc goes into standby mode and doesnt wake up even if i touch the mouse or the keyboard so i have to restart it, moreover lately it goes into sstandby mode EVEN if i am working with the computer like typing or downloading it just takes me to standby in approx 7 mins n i have to restart it
