Prevent application from accessingt the internet

How do I prevent a specifi program from accessing the Internet. Is there a way to do this by adding a key into the regedit tool?
or other thing can do this

Firewalls could do it by blocking the application. Editing the hosts file would also work by entering the website and directing it to 127.0.0.1
