Hi

I have an ASUS Geforce 7300GT with passive heatsink cooling and i believe its 400Mhz core and 800Mhz memory

I am wondering if i could use another 7300GT from a different manufacture that runs at the same speed(core and memory) and run it in a SLI configuration? ie run identical cards from different manufactures?

would different speed be ok or would it affect SLI mode?

cheers in advance

Yea, you can mix brands and clock speeds to run SLI, no problem.

ok, cheers, i was thinking of getting the Inno3d version that runs at the same core and memory speed (400 core, 800 memory) as my ASUS silent to run it in SLI mode

note:- for the same price i could get the new 8500GT, would that be a worthy upgrade from the 7300GT and sell it rather buying another one?

It should be quite a bit better than your 7300GT. As far as SLI goes, it's never worth pairing 2 low or midrange cards, only 2 highend cards.

i thought having 2 cards in SLI is supposed to double the performance of a single card

also another point, i thought if u cant afford the top range 8800 or 7900 ultra that costs £400, better to buy 2 £100 cards ie 7600GT/7900GT (or even £50 7300GT cards) and run it in SLI

Nope. You don't get 2X the performance, not even with highend cards. In the case of lowend cards, you'll probably get a 10% improvement SLIing them. SLI/Xfire is only beneficial when pairing 2 highend cards playing at high resolutions.
