XP TRIES TO FORMAT USB THUMB DRIVE

I have a Atavi My 2GB USB Device. I can use it on one XP machine and it works fine. I try it on the machine I need to copy files from the usb drive to the hard drive and I can't see the files and XP asks if I want to format the usb drive. any ideas?

let it format it on the second machine and then see what the first machines says when you plug it in, if it doesnt complain copy the files over and see what happens.
