May I remove all but the latest XP security upgrades sent to me Automatically? Old computer and 20 some upgrades taking up memory. All downloaded yesterday.

It would probably be better to restore it to the last restore point before yesterday.

When you say memory do you mean hard drive space or RAM? I can see the updates occupying hard drive space (the temp files on the hard drive can be deleted once the updates are successfully installed), but I really can't see RAM usage going up by all that much.
