Hey, I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on an Asus P5E. My old soundcard recently burned out, so I decided I'd give the stock sound card that came with the mobo a shot. I installed the card, and my system seems to recognize it as an HD Audio Device.. but I'm not getting any sound from it. So I tried installing drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard, only to get an error message saying "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware." I've done some research, and I've tried various different driver installs. The BIOS is properly set to HD Audio, and I have realtek installed as was required in a tech support response to someone with the same problem. I have no idea where to go from here, maybe I just haven't gotten the right drivers? Anyone else solved this problem?
I kinda have the same problem but worse.Im using a SB Live! 5.1 card (SB0060) and I just installed windows 7.Before the install I had sound now I dont.Ive tried every driver out there even some vista drivers and no luck.I enabled the windows driver update and that didnt help either. My mobo is a P5E deluxe without onboard sound yet the device manager shows two ati hdmi devices and its saying neither are plugged in.Ive went into BIOS and made my pci the default slot also. And yes when I try new drivers I uninstall the old ones first. My card is good and I even tried using a similar SB card to no avail.Im running out of ideas any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
