More about unmountable boot volume
  1. If the message 'Unmountable boot volume' is displayed, the chances of the hard drive failing and needing to be replaced are most likely.
  2. If you have a Vista installation disk, try booting the system to the disk and repairing the system boot files. If that doesn't work, likely a bad hard drive. More likely the former and specifically the HD's controller.
