Video card done for?

I was going to a website last night and the screen went to gray and then black. Now when I restart the computer on the post screen it seems to have gone dyslexic and some of the letters for the words aren't in the right order and some of the letters like the u have the . . over them like on german letters. Does this mean my video card is fried? I thought that's what it was since it's about 5 years old. It's a Geforce 4 Ti4800. I just wanted to make sure before I bought a new one. (Yes I know it's really out of date anyway. It's just the comp my parents use) Thanks in advance

Edit: The computer also won't boot past the POST screen now.

Any ideas? I'm assuming it's fried but I don't want to spend money on anything unless I have a second opinion.

sounds like it is artifacting like a bitch, which is the sign its gone. Damn those TI4000 cards were the top shit back in the day my ti4200 (which i replaced with a 9700pro) ran counterstrike source on high textures (no new AA and AF, Reflection Stuff.)

just ask some friends or go on ebay/newegg and pick up a cheap replacement.
