i have an older lexmark printer that worked with my old laptop and windows xp my new laptop has vista and does not recognize the printer. can that be fixed?

Check the printer's Lexmark product page for you're printer's product page and download and install the Vista driver if one is available. If not, the printer is not going work without a driver. Aren't new Vista supported Lexmark printers throw-ins? Or at least very inexpensive.

You should install the drive of lexmark printer.
I think any computer can recognize the printer.
