Greetings there. Basically I've received a recredit from a retailer in which I purchased a motherboard which had developed a fault and needed to be RMA. Problem is, I installed Vista OEM on the motherboard and activated it.

My concern is that my copy (I've heard conflicting opinions hence the topic) is locked to that particular motherboard that was RMA and that I'd need to get another copy. Had anyone had any experience with these issues?

Ever had to RMA after you activated, got a new board (both different make and model) and tried to reinstall the OEM software?

yes, as the OEM software is tied to 1 computer (using a Hardware ID) you will need to call MS to activate the new hardware ID very simple and only takes 10mins

Thanks for the great answer. Originally I bought the OEM software in the US (Bestbuy) but have since moved abroad. Will MS kick up a fit if I have moved from the destination of purchase. "It says for sale/usa in the US & Canada".

wouldnt worry about that tell them you moved plus its a hardware upgrade which triggered the Activation you should have no problems after that
