I have recently updated an existing computer. I have used the old sata hd, however i am unsure of its condition before the build because the previous system did not work (did not display to monitor).

On the Sata HD xp was installed, however the system reboots on the windows loading screen.

So i decided to re-install windows from the boot cd. On setup the system freezes on the analyzing hd stage. Could anybody tell me what the possible problem(s) maybe.

Thanks

reinstalling the OS with out wiping the drive is a bad idea, any issuse are just carried forward, if the install failed maybe you could just repair the original OS, use the installation disk and at boot select repair
