Service Pack 1

Guy's i'm having some errors installing the service pack 1 for windows vista:

This is the error i recieve:

An internal error occurred while installing the service pack
Error code: 0x80070002 see

It nearly completes the installation but then fails and comes up with that error.

Additional:

This update was downloaded then copied to my HD then i went to install it.

Also with my windows update it seems to be very slow when checking for updates.
Also when i boot up it has a notification that tells me:

Windows can't check for updates:
Click this notification to solve this problem .etc etc
