I have a laptop and a desktop, I also have a external hard drive, on the laptop the external drive is e on the desktop it's f, the information I want off the drive is under e but I can't get it under f from the desk top, I'm told by making the drive e on the desktop it should work, how do I do that or is their another solution.
Thanks.
Barry

right click on my computer-->manage-->disk management-->right click on your drive in the top window-->change drive letter and path. This will change the drive letter, no guarentees it will do what you want it to do.

if the E dive does not already exist on the desktop. technically the next drive letter available is assigned when the device is plugged in, you can follow aford10's advice but make the drive the X,Y,or Z drive and then there will be no conflicts with the drive letter in either machine
