Hello

I am upgrading a Compaq Evo D500 from a P4 1.6Ghz to higher. The lastest bios update states support for C1 stepping which would be a 2.4Ghz

I was wondering if it should work with D1 stepping which would allow a 2.6 or 2.8Ghz ?

If you're sure that the C1 and D1 steppings refer to the *same design*, then I would expect it to work in theory. In practice, you will be boosting the power consumption and heat generation by 25% or so, and the power circuitry and/or CPU cooler in your computer may not be able to handle the increase.
