Hi all, which should i get, i am stuck between both of these cards, and also why you chose one over the other.

1: HIS Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express, ViVo/HDCP, 2xDVI/HDMI @ €395.

If I were in your shoes, Id be looking at three things. First, my resolution. Currently at low res (12x10) either card will suffice. Second, future gaming, or better said, future games I want. Theyll alomosr assuredly be DX10, and at this point, theres no real true DX10 game out, and tho some are coming, as always, some will favor ATI and some will favor nVidia. The GTX is the faster card, and will help you deal with newly released games better, without forgetting what I said above about favoring, and the GTX should be better, as it costs more, which leads to the last question Id ask myself. If price wasnt an issue, itd definately be the GTX, but if I were budgeted somewhat, then Id try and decide which card and games would work best for me.

if you can afford the gtx, get it, if you can't save up to get it because you have listed it as an option, if it will take ages to save for the gtx you already know it isn't an option and go for the 2900xt

If you can afford the GTX there is no contention whatsoever - it's the superior card. If you cannot afford it though, you should consider an 8800 GTS instead of the 2900.

the gts wasn't listed as an option, lol, wither way, the gts and 2900xt trade blows, they are both approximately the same price and the 2900xt performs a tad better, if i were to buy one, i'd go for the 2900xt (only because i already have 2 :p) man i need an x38 board

Hi jaydeejohn,

Its going onto a abit IN-9 32xMax Mobo, 4Gb corsair dom 8500c5d, 620 Corsair PSU, C2Due E6700, Creative Xi-Fi Xtreme, 3 x 15k 72Gb + 1 15k 146Gb Cheeta Scsi Hard disks with a Adaptec 29320A-R Scsi Controller. And all slapped into a Thermaltake Tai-Chi water cooled case.

That case is bloody huge and it should have no problems fitting.

If you plan on running rezzies 1600x1200 or higher, go with EVGA 8800GTS 640mb, for about $390 a pop, any higher the GTX gor like $550 a pop, anything below a 19inch monitor the 8800gts 320mb will do great for about $280 a pop. NVIDIA has the crown for now, but it all depends on your pocket and if its worth getting the best now, chances are that once DX10 games become the mainstream of gaming, the 8800GTX might be a mid range card, ONLY reason to upgrade to the GTX, so that you can have a card that will last for like maybe another 6 months, once that blows over you will wnat to upgrade again, there will always be somwthing better to have. like EVGA's 8900 series :D
GL
