Is my hard drive or gpu dieing?

I have a laptop with i7 quad cpu, 8 gb ram, 7200 rpm drive, and ATI 6770m gpu.

Recently programs have been opening slower, apps like itunes and spotify lag, sometimes video audio lag so they become unsynced, i get popup saying catalyst control app closed (this the gpu app the comes when drivers are installed), just overall sluggish system like menu sometimes take a while to load up, etc etc.

Is this a hard drive or gpu problem?

When this happens, go into Task Manager by pressing Control Shift and Escape together. Click the Processes tab then click on the head of the CPU column twice to bring the highest users to the top of the list. See what's running when the lag starts.

Do you have any Norton products in there?
