after 5 months of updates my computer tells me,on update site;updates were installed;never!update history;you have never installed updates?this state only recent,2 days.

Are you sure that the updates have been installing, i.e. when you shutdown does Vista say it is configuring updates and such? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. What service pack are you running? If it bothers you that much, you can just download the service packs directly from MS and that should solve your issue.

Yes, it takes some time, as the service packs are just a collection of previous updates and they have to install all at once. Best of luck.
